If you ever wondered how much it means to the people of Leeds City, to see their athletes competiting and doing well, here are some extracts from WhatsApp conversations in the aftermath of sundays Northern League meet in Cleckheaton:
Person 1: We won again at Cleckheaton today, even with a lot of gaps. Great effort from everyone. People filling gaps and making that last relay team member, made all the difference once again.
Person 2: Without officials points, which we had full I think, we were 22 points clear of Spenborough. Fantastic result once again…
Person 3: Fantastic! Well done Team
Person 4: Brilliant. Well done!!
Person 5: So very pleased to hear this result.
The messages and support kept coming (too many to list here), asking how each other had done, checking in on athletes returning from injury, comparing split times and distances. Photos and videos being swapped, good news stories being told and a general delight to see athletes doing so well.
