New Members
Keen to improve your athletics skills and take part in competition? Then we could be the club for you!
Leeds City Athletic Club is a competitive club, where all members are affiliated to England Athletics (EA) for competition, paying as part of their annual subscription, EA membership.
Leeds City AC coaches are qualified through UK Athletics. All are volunteers, dedicated to working with their athletes to develop and improve skills in training sessions in preparation and readiness for performance in competition.
Participation in competition is crucial for athlete development and self-improvement. It is a club expectation that everyone competes in the club vest across the year.
We are an inclusive club and try to accommodate as broad a range of athletes as we can, but like all clubs we have limited resources and so if we are unable to offer you a suitable coaching path at this time, the team will direct you to other sporting organisations who may better meet your needs.
Please look at the information about our club on the website and if you think we could be offering what you are looking for, complete our enquiry form with as much detail as possible including any information about other sports / sporting achievements. Our membership team will use this information to help decide if we have an appropriate coaching group for you to train with.
Young Athletes (up to and including Under 17).
There is a waiting list for Young Athletes in some events / areas of the club. Those expressing an interest in joining the club will be invited to come to a free trial / try it session, with one or more of our coaches, whilst parents meet with members of the parent liaison team to learn more about club training and competition. The 2 taster sessions (see below) apply after this for those who return to join a group. Leeds City AC is a competitive club with the expectation that all athletes compete. Coaches will support and facilitate this.
If you or your child are interested in becoming a member of our athletics club, please contact via the Contact Us link.
2 x ‘taster sessions’ (Trial Period)
For all new athletes we offer 2 ‘taster sessions’ (or trial period) to ensure the club is right for you before you commit to joining.
For Wheelchair athletes the first taster session is free of charge to establish if the equipment is compatible.
The 2 taster sessions cost £5 and apply to all new athletes both junior & senior who are interested in joining the club.
If after these sessions you would like to continue, you will need to join as a Leeds City Athletic Club member. This membership is renewed annually. Training fees are paid separately in addition to membership.
Club Fees
The cost of joining Leeds City Athletic Club for new members is as follows, renewable on 1st April annually (there is also an additional cost for training night fees);
- Prices for new members include one club vest. A family membership receives one club vest per family.
- The above prices also include the compulsory annual registration to England Athletic (£19 per year) and a Northern Athletics levy for the year (£2 per year)
Training Night Fees
There is also a cost for using the facilities each time you attend a training session (known as training night fees). These are linked to your annual membership.

Members who choose to pay monthly will pay their first month up front along with their membership fee. Annual Fees attract a 5% discount, including for those members joining partway through the year
Monthly payments are due on the 1st of every month for the full 12 months. The cost of your monthly subs fee will depend on your membership status and have been calculated over a 40 week period (meaning we have allowed 12 weeks of non-training throughout the year (due to holidays, exams, other sports etc).

My Athletics
When you become a member (or renew your membership) with Leeds City Athletics Club, you will automatically be registered as a member of England Athletics. We will provide England Athletics with your personal data which they will use to enable access to an online portal for you, (MyAthletics).
England Athletics will contact you to invite you to sign into and update your MyAthletics portal (which, amongst other things, allows you to set and amend your privacy settings). If you have any questions about the continuing privacy of your personal data when it is shared with England Athletics, please contact dataprotection@englandathletics.org.
Non-payment procedures
If at any time you cancel your subscription, your account will fall into arrears. You will be asked by the club to bring your account balance up to date by the end of that month and set up the standing order for future payments.
If this does not happen by the 1st of the following month, you will not be able to train at John Charles Stadium on club nights. Each monthly payment missed will be added to your outstanding balance. Once your account balance is brought up to date and a new subscription is set up for the 1st of each month, you will be able to resume training again.
If an athlete leaves the club with an account in arrears you will not be allowed to re-join the club or join another club without paying their account arrears.
Regular non-payers may be asked to leave the club and have their membership cancelled. If this happens, you will potentially have your England Athletic membership suspended and will not be able to compete as a Leeds City Athletic Club athlete. If the member is in genuine financial difficulty, the member needs to contact the club to review their circumstances.
* Please note – failure to pay the correct fee and/or submit the correct forms may impact on the athlete being able to compete.
